This is one of a series of rugs designed around bands of color loosely interlaced, with a third color in the background giving the appearance of depth. It is a thick and stable hand-woven rug despite its fluid appearance. Deseret No.2 uses bands of varying width and color to achieve its design intention. Side 1 of the rug illustrates the flow of ribbons as they weave in and out. Side 2 gives a more subdued impression, perhaps a grilled or stain-glass feeling. |
